Your Printing Partner Since 1958

Plan Photo Repro was founded by Frank Bands, a photographic reproduction specialist who learned precision imaging during World War II. Our roots trace back to the historic Frank Bands (Pty) Ltd. Document Copying & Plan Printing building in Pretoria — one of the city's earliest professional reproduction studios.

From ammonia plan printing in the 1960s to modern digital workflows and signage fabrication, we have served architects, engineers, businesses and students across Gauteng for over six decades.

Technology through the decades

Each era brought new kit — ammonia plans, diazo, digital RIP, latex wide-format, signage fabrication, web and booking systems. The habit stayed the same: take the file, register the job, get it right.

  1. 1940s
    World War II

Frank Bands trains in aerial photographic reproduction.

Precision imaging under pressure — the craft that would define the shop.

  2. 1958
    Plan Photo Repro is Founded

One of Pretoria's first professional reproduction studios.

Same precision, new address — Maroelana becomes a production floor.

  3. 1960s–1970s
    Ammonia Plan Printing

    Expansion into technical plan printing.

Architects and engineers walk in with rolls; we scale with Gauteng growth.

  4. 1980s
    Diazo Reprographics

    Blueprinting and analogue reproduction.

Blueprint lines stay sharp — faster copies, same registration discipline.

  5. 1990s
    Digital Transition

    Large-format digital printing arrives.

RIP workflows replace darkrooms; wide-format joins the floor.

  6. 2000s
    Commercial Printing Grows

Brochures, flyers and corporate printing expand.

Short-run colour and finishing under one roof — not a separate vendor.

  7. 2010s
    Signage Division Launches

Lightboxes, 3D letters, ACM signs and branding.

Print meets fabrication — fascia, wraps and pylons from the same brand files.

  8. 2020s
    Modernisation

    Digital workflows and Gauteng-wide service.

Web, booking and custom PPR systems — production habits, online reach.
